Redlands, CA - April 13, 2006  SCAN Business Systems, a leading provider of Student Information Systems, today announced the addition of Sumner College of Health Science to its list of clients using Campus Cafe.

“We’re very excited to be adding to Sumner College to our client base,” said Joe Stefaniak, President of SCAN.  “This is a great example of the quick deployment potential that Java and Campus Cafe offer.  As a new institution, Sumner’s selection and implementation process were simplified - we were able to get their first end users up on the system in a hosted environment, fully trained, in just a few weeks.”

Sumner College signed licensing agreements on December 7, 2005 and had their Business Office up and running on new General Ledger in time for the start of their January 1 fiscal year.  Admissions and Registrar will be enrolling and registering students for their first term later in 2006.

“Campus Café will serve as the administrative foundation we need to build our Institution,” said Mailen Kootsey, Founder and CTO of Sumner College of Health Science.  “We carefully evaluated the market for Student Information Systems appropriate for institutions of our size and found this package to best meet our current and future needs.  No other solution in this market could provide a high level of integration and real time data sharing for all of our offices.”

Sumner’s decision to deploy Campus Café in a hosted environment significantly reduces initial and ongoing costs for hardware, software and personnel.  In additions to having a configured server in place in just a few short days, they enjoy security, performance, and guaranteed uptime without the added expense of purchasing new servers and increased headcount.  As a Java-based technology, Campus Cafe allowed Sumner to select from multiple Database Management Systems.  The solution will run on MS SQL Server.

About Sumner College of Health Science:

Sumner College of Health Science is a new on-line school readying a 30 month program to prepare nurses to pass the Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) licensing examination. CRNA’s deliver approximately 70% of the anesthesia given in the United States. A shortage of anesthesia personnel, excellent salaries, and personal independence make this career very attractive for the nurse with intensive care experience. Sumner College will prepare the student for the CRNA examination through 30 months of didactic and clinical training. Nearly all of the 12 months of classes will be delivered on line, enabling the student to remain at home while studying and even continue to work part time. Lessons being prepared for Sumner students will include a variety of presentation forms, such as video clips, interactive simulations, and case studies. Sumner College will also arrange the 18 months of clinical rotations for each student, in many cases at the student’s present hospital of employment or another nearby hospital.

Sumner College is a for-profit corporation registered in the state of Colorado, with administration and faculty distributed in several states. The CRNA program will be fully accredited by the Council on Accreditation, American Association of Nurse Anesthetists, before the first group of students begins classes.
